Nerve (2016) FILM REVIEW

Having wanting to watch the film Nerve for a while I saw it was uploaded onto Netflix and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to check it out. So here are my thoughts on the film.

Nerve is a film that is about daring people to do stuff for money that progressively gets harder the more dares you do and till you are in the finals. The game shows that you are not able to back out without losing everything you have made or if you bail from your dare you also get everything taken away from you. Furthermore, you are not allowed to go to the police or any authorities to try and take the site down. People are put under two categories one of these are called Watchers, these are people who just watch the game and dare the contestants to do certain things for money. The other is the players which are the ones who are to play the game and do all the dares that they are allocated within a certain amount of time.

I thought this was a cool concept especially as it got all of your social media and online presence in order to effect the dares that the players were to do and shows just how dangerous putting everything online can be. I also liked how it put it so the player had to video the performance showing that maybe everyone spends too much time online and should put their life away from social media.

This film had me scared for the characters Vee the main character played by Emma Roberts and Ian played by Dave Franco. As well as this you get to see some of the dares from other contestants and how far they are willing to make the dares such as lying on the rail tracks while a train goes over you and more. This film had me on the edge of my seat and wanting to watch more as well as well as being glad that this game does not exist in real life (or at least not to the extent of the film).

I am so glad that I decided to watch this film and if you want something that will put you on the edge of your seat in a non scary way then I highly suggest checking this out. I rate this film a 9/10!
